Who we are
The ECU Health Service assists students, staff and the university community with their health care needs. The primary function of the service is to provide our students with accessible and affordable health care for the duration of their studies.
Where we are
Located within the Wellbeing Precinct on the ECU Joondalup Campus, our AGPAL accredited, purpose built general practice is on the same floor as the free student psychological services, the Living Room (a peer led support and guidance service), with a coffee shop and free reserved GP parking close by.
What your day will look like
At the beginning of each semester, we see an influx of new students, and in particular new nursing students seeking to complete their vaccine records for their course. To assist in this, our nurse led clinics streamline our appointment book, saving GP time and effort.
An average full day for our GP will include approximately 25-30 patients, including vaccines, mental health care plans, skin cancer checks, sexual health screening and contraception, some antenatal care, routine medical attention and the odd walk-in urgent illness or injury on campus. We are also equipped for cryotherapy, surgical removal of lesions and iron infusions.
Students are charged the rebate fee or bulk billed, and staff and other patients are charged private commercial rates.
Contract arrangements
GPs are independent contractors and are engaged on a Medical Practice Service Agreement, with a generous Service Fee of 15%.
What we are looking for (Selection Criteria)
- Vocational Registered (VR) general practitioners with an interest in mental health, body diversity, sexual health and health promotion.
- In providing comprehensive patient healthcare, our medical practitioners will consider and respect patients’ rights, identity, body diversity, beliefs, language, religious and cultural backgrounds.
- You will also demonstrate personal attributes that are congruent with the University’s values of Integrity, Respect, Rational Inquiry Personal Excellence and Courage.
