🌅 Join Sunrise Health Service Aboriginal Corporation as a General Practitioner 🌅
About Us
Sunrise Health Service Aboriginal Corporation (SHS) is a community-controlled health organisation proudly serving nine remote communities in the stunning eastern Katherine region. Deeply embedded in these communities, we’re committed to delivering equitable, culturally appropriate primary healthcare that supports not just today’s generation—but those to come.
Our passionate team works hand-in-hand with local communities to develop sustainable, community-led healthcare solutions. We’re proud of achievements like a 98% COVID-19 immunisation rate for children—10% higher than the NT average—showcasing our dedication to improving health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (ATSI) communities.
Now, we’re offering you the chance to bring your expertise where it truly matters, with the flexibility to work on the ground in Community or from Katherine in a unique hybrid role.
What’s on Offer
We’re seeking experienced General Practitioners to join our growing team in multiple full-time roles. While we’d love to welcome a permanent, on-the-ground GP, we also understand lifestyle needs and are happy to support hybrid work arrangements.
As part of a dedicated, collaborative team, you’ll report to our Executive Manager Medical Services and have the chance to:
- Deliver proactive, culturally safe primary healthcare to ATSI communities, supported by local staff.
- Facilitate accurate, timely Medicare claims to optimise funding for our services.
- Work closely with nurses, care managers, Aboriginal health practitioners, and community workers to enhance local health initiatives.
- Support vital health data collection and reporting.
- Contribute to public health initiatives and local education efforts.
- Engage in our Continuous Quality Improvement program to drive meaningful change.
How You’ll Make a Difference
This isn’t your average GP role—it’s an opportunity to bring your adaptability, cultural sensitivity, and positive spirit to truly make an impact. You’ll help close health gaps and support healthier futures for remote Aboriginal communities.
What You’ll Need to Succeed
- FRACGP or FACRRM registration
- AHPRA registration
- Familiarity with Medicare rebates (processing/management experience desirable)
- Unrestricted Australian driver’s licence
- OCHRE Card (NT Working with Children clearance)
- Recent Criminal History Check (or willingness to obtain)
- First Aid certification
